Both…and/Either…or/Neither..nor ทั้ง 3 คำนี้เป็นคำที่เราเจอในข้อสอบ Toeic บ่อยมากๆ ดังนั้นหากเรารู้หลักการใช้งานแล้ว เราก็จะทำข้อสอบได้ถูกต้องรวดเร็วยิ่งขึ้น
Both…and หมายถึง ทั้ง… และ… เช่น
We will play both football and basketball in the afternoon. เราจะเล่นทั้งฟุตบอลและบาสเก็ตบอลในตอนบ่าย
We will eat both hamburger and pizza. พวกเราจะกินทั้งแฮมเบอร์เกอร์และพิซซ่า
ฺBoth Ken and Harry are coming to the party tonight. ทั้งเคนและแฮร์รี่จะมาปาร์ตี้คืนนี้
I will come on both Thursday and Friday. ฉันจะมาทั้งวันพฤหัสและวันศุกร์
Either…or หมายถึง อย่างนี้ หรือ อีกอย่างหนึ่ง เช่น
We will play either football or basketball in the afternoon. เราจะเล่นฟุตบอลหรือบาสเก็ตบอลอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่งในตอนบ่าย
We will eat either hamburger or pizza. พวกเราจะกินแฮมเบอร์เกอร์หรือพิซซ่า
Either Ken or Harry is coming to the party tonight. เคนหรือแฮร์รี่คนใดคนหนึ่งจะมาปาร์ตี้คืนนี้

Neither..nor หมายถึง ไม่ทั้ง… และ… เช่น

We will eat neither hamburger nor pizza. พวกเราจะไม่กินทั้งแฮมเบอร์เกอร์และพิซซ่า

Neither do I, Nor can she เราใช้ neither หรือ nor + auxiliary/modal verb + subject ให้ความหมายเหมือน also not:
Ann :I hate snakes. I can’t even look at a picture of a snake.

Bow :Neither can I. ฉันก็เหมือนกัน
A:Jack doesn’t drive. แจ๊คขับรถไม่ได้

Not … either เราสามารถใช้ not … either หมายถึง also not ได้เช่นกัน
A:I haven’t ever tasted foie gras. ฉันไม่เคยกินฟัวกราส์เลย
B:I haven’t either. (or Neither have I./Nor have I.) ฉันก็ไม่เคยเหมือนกันA:I didn’t see Blackpink at the concert. ฉันไม่เคยไปดูคอนเสริต์ของแบล็คพิงค์เลย
B:I didn’t either. (or Neither did I./Nor did I.) ฉันก็ไม่เคยเหมือนกัน
