YES/NO Questions
คือประโยคคำถามที่ต้องตอบ Yes หรือ No นั่นหมายความว่าเมื่อเราจะถามคำถามแบบใดก็ตาม เราสามารถตอบ Yes หรือ No ก็ได้ เพื่อเป็นการจบประโยคโดยสมบูรณ์ การสร้างคำถามชนิดนี้ง่ายและเป็นที่นิยมมาก
ประเภทของ YES/NO Questions
- ประโยคคำถามแบบ YES/NO Questions ที่ขึ้นต้นประโยคด้วย V. to be เช่น Is, Am, Are, Was, Were ซึ่งประโยคคำถามชนิดนี้จะเป็นได้ 4 tense คือ Present simple tense, Present continuous tense, Past simple tense, และ Past continuous tense
เช่น Are you a teacher? ( Present simple tense ) คุณเป็นคุณครูใช่ไหม
Is Jane at home? ( Present simple tense ) เจนอยู่ที่บ้านไหม
Are you studing English? ( Present continuous tense ) คุณกำลังเรียนภาษาอังกฤษอยู่ใช่ไหม
Was Ken at home yesterday? ( Past simple tense ) เมื่อวานนี้เคนอยู่บ้านไหม
Were your children watching TV at 6 o’clock yesterday? ( Past continuous tense ) ลูกๆ ของคุณดูทีวีช่วงหกโมงเย็นเมื่อวานนี้ใช่ไหม
สำหรับการตอบคำถาม YES/NO Questions สามารถตอบได้ 3 วิธี ดังนี้
ตอบแบบสั้น ตอบแบบกลาง และตอบแบบยาว เช่น
A : Is Nick your brother?
ตอบแบบสั้น B : Yes. หรือ No.
ตอบแบบกลาง B : Yes he is. หรือ No he isn’t.
ตอบแบบยาว B : Yes he is my brother. หรือ No he isn’t my brother.
2. ประโยคคำถามแบบ YES/NO Questions ที่ขึ้นต้นประโยคด้วย Do, Does, Did ประโยคคำถามชนิดนี้จะมีเพียง 2 tense คือ Present simple tense และ Past simple tense เช่น
เช่น Do you know Lisa? ( Present simple tense ) คุณรู้จักลิซ่าไหม
Does Anna go to school today? ( Present simple tense ) วันนี้อันนาไปโรงเรียนไหม
Did Anna go to school yesterday? ( Past simple tense ) เมื่อวานนี้อันนาไปโรงเรียนไหม
การตอบคำถามก็เหมือนกับการตอบคำถามที่ขึ้นต้นด้วย V. to do ตอบได้ 3 วิธี ดังนี้
ตอบแบบสั้น ตอบแบบกลาง และตอบแบบยาว เช่น
A : Do you know Jennie?
ตอบแบบสั้น B : Yes. หรือ No.
ตอบแบบกลาง B : Yes I do. หรือ No I don’t.
ตอบแบบยาว B : Yes I know. หรือ No I don’t know.
A : Did you watch TV last night?
ตอบแบบสั้น B : Yes. หรือ No.
ตอบแบบกลาง B : Yes I did. หรือ No I didn’t.
ตอบแบบยาว B : Yes I watch TV Last night. หรือ No I didn’t watch TV Last night.
3. ประโยคคำถามแบบ YES/NO Questions ที่ขึ้นต้นประโยคด้วย Model verb หรือ กริยาช่วย เช่น Will, would, shall, should, can, could, may, might ซึ่งจะอยู่ในรูปแบบ Future tense เช่น
Will you marry me? ( Future tense ) คุณจะแต่งงานกับฉันไหม
Shall I open the radio? ( Future tense ) ฉันขอเปิดวิทยุได้ไหม
May I go to your home tomorrow? ( Future tense ) ฉันขอไปบ้านคุณพรุ่งนี้ได้ไหม
การตอบคำถามก็มี 3 แบบเช่นเดิม
A : Will class begin at 8 am tomorrow?
ตอบแบบสั้น B : Yes. หรือ No.
ตอบแบบกลาง B : Yes it will. หรือ No it won’t.
ตอบแบบยาว B : Yes it wil begin at 8 am tomorrow. หรือ No it won’t begin at 8 am tomorrow.
4. ประโยคคำถามแบบ YES/NO Questions ที่ขึ้นต้นประโยคด้วย Has, have, Had ซึ่งประโยคคำถามชนิดนี้จะเป็นได้ 4 tense คือ Present simple tense, Present perfect tense, Past simple tense, และ Past perfect tense
โครงสร้างประโยคคำถามแบบ V. to have เป็นกริยาแท้
แบบอังกฤษ : Has, have, Had + S + O?
แบบอเมริกัน : Do, Does, Did + S + have + O?
