จริงๆเเล้วเราเห็นและออกเสียง Contraction ในภาษาอังกฤษกันเยอะเเละบ่อยมากนะ แต่เราอาจจะไม่รู้ว่าเนี่ยล่ะคือ Contraction ซึ่งมันก็คือ การออกเสียงหรือการเขียนคำกริยาในภาษาอังกฤษ ที่มีเครื่องหมาย ‘(apostrophe) เพื่อลดรูปคำนั้นๆ อย่างเช่น คำว่า “did not” ก็มีการใช้ Contraction เป็น “didn’t” ซึ่งการออกเสียงนั้นก็จะออกเเตกต่างกันไปด้วย

อย่างไรก็ตาม การออกเสียงเเละการเขียนในรูปแบบนี้นั้นจะใช้ในระดับภาษาที่ “infomal” ก็คือไม่ทางการ นั่นหมายความว่าถ้าจะใช้ในภาษาเขียนหรือใช้ในภาษาทางการก็ควรลีกเลี่ยงการใช้ Contraction ที่นี่มาดูตัวอย่างกันชัดๆดีกว่าว่ามีอะไรบ้าง
